Things I’m obsessed with: Zulily

20140310_185025My friends, a monster has been created. I have become full-on addicted to Zulily. I can’t remember who told me about it or if I saw a commercial, but I love it. I’m a coupon, sale-seeking, won’t buy it if it’s not on sale diva and Zulily fits right in with that. If you’re not familiar with it, Zulily is basically a flash sale site. They advertise sales from various merchants usually starting at 6 a.m. pdt (9 a.m. for us East Coasters) lasting about three days. Once the sale ends, they place a bulk order for all the items sold and then ship you your stuff. The great thing is it’s usually at least 40 percent off, if not more. The not so great thing is it takes a little while to receive your order. Because of their process, you can wait, on average, 3-4 weeks to get your stuff. It varies for each sale, but trust me, these deals are worth the wait.

20140310_185443Last month, they had a TOMS sale. TOMS, in case you aren’t familiar with them, are these fun canvas shoes with hundreds of colors and designs. For every pair purchased, a pair is donated to a child in need. They can be really hard to find on sale, so imagine my delight when I found out they were going to be on Zulily and at a great price! I set my alarm clock (homegirl likes to sleep, plus I had a late meeting for work) and when I logged in at 9:10 a.m., 10 minutes after the start of the sale, some were already sold out. EEK! No worries, I nailed down three pairs. My goal was to get them all in, see which I liked the most in person, and then sell the others. (Another point: there are no returns, but if you know your way around Ebay that isn’t an issue!)

20140310_224115Well, my three fabulous pairs of TOMS arrived at my home Monday, 14 business days after I placed my order, and let’s just say I don’t think I’ll be utilizing the Ebay option. My husband, on the other hand, is less than thrilled. However, I just point out two things: 1) I got three pairs of TOMS for what I would have paid for a pair and a half. 2) My indecisive purchase just gave three pairs of shoes to children in need. How can he argue with that? Plus, I’ll be closet purging via Ebay within the next few weeks to both clean out my closet (cue the Eminem) and pay back my shoe purchase. And also, I probably need a little more space for that super cute shirt that should arrive via Zulily any day now.

If you’re hunting for a good find, please sign up for Zulily. Some of the current sales include Athleta and Vera Bradley.

I was not compensated in any way from Zulily for this post. Seriously though, if you know how to make that happen, let’s talk mmk? Also, if you would be so kind as to sign up through one of my links in this post and make a purchase, I’ll get $15 credit, so thanks. And be sure to share your link once you sign up!

What to do, what to do…

Ever since I finished my third 365 in December, I’ve been trying to decide what to do with my blog. Obviously, I decided not to go for 365 round four considering it’s March and this is the first time I’ve blogged all year. Instead, I think I’m going to try something different. I love crafting, trying new recipes, reviewing new products, bargain hunting and traveling. Those popular Pinterest things? Yep, I try them and no, I usually don’t have a #pinterestfail. New recipes? I’m game, although my husband likes to point out that I tend to try overly complicated things and then have a mini meltdown during them. As for reviewing new products, I belong to several tester groups in which I’ve tested everything from Claritin-D to Saute Express and yes, I love to share my opinions. Best part is, they usually send coupons to share and I love a good coupon, especially those little ones with the foil accents which means something is either big money off or free. Love it and I love to share the deals I find with all of my friends. Why pay more if you can pay less? (I feel like a certain shoe store is going to be using that one.) And paying less includes vacations. If they have a sale or you can get a deal, use it! Well, that my friends brings us full circle so check back to check out all of these new great things plus an occasional rant, because what’s a blog without a rant?

Gold or pink? What to chose, what to choose. And yes, these were both on clearance. Why pay full price? Nail polish is expensive. The gold came from Target and the pink came from CVS. They might still have some left. CVS had tons of makeup anywhere from 50-70 percent off this past weekend so they probably still have some left.

Labor Day always depresses me. I’m a summer kid so the end of the unofficial summer season is always a little sad. Plus, it could be leftover from my youth when Labor Day meant it was time to head back to school, something I was always less than excited about. However, the sales make it a bit better. On Saturday, despite a flaw in Old Navy’s promotion and thanks to an awesome fellow blogger who saved the day, I was able to get my hands on one of the coveted 35% off friends and family discounts. I ordered pants for work online and also got some cute things in store as well like $1.97 t-shirts, before the discount. And if you’re wondering the online and in store combo was because the pants for work are only available in the short length via the web and the other finds were only available in my size in store. Then today, Ron and I headed off to Kohl’s where he was able to find a pair of pants for work and a polo on sale, which I have to agree with him is a score because men’s clothes, especially dress clothes, are more expensive than women’s. I’m not really sure why that is, but it is true. My pants, belt and three shirts were probably as much or less than his two items. It’s kind of not fair, but I guess that’s the way it is.

Old Navy is currently having their Stuff ‘n Save event. If you aren’t familiar with it, cardholders get 30 percent off their purchase during the sale and you get a free reusable bag. And on the first day, which happens to be today, you get 40 percent off instead of 30. Score! The sale is pretty legit especially when you use it on clearance like I did, and being a cardholder has other perks like tons of rewards, which I usually save to use on the annual Black Friday sale. If you can’t get to a store the Stuff ‘n Save offer is also available online and free shipping is available to orders over $50.

I finally got a chance to clean out my drawer tonight. I wish I would have taken a picture of how it was before. To put it lightly, it was a total wreck. I was able to weed out lots of pieces that I don’t wear anymore for one reason or another. A handful of them will be taken to Goodwill and the others will be put on eBay. My clothes are nice because I really take care of them so lots of times I’m able to resell them. That way they go off to a good home and I get a little cash to put towards new pieces. I used to buy lots of pieces each season but now I’ll pick up a few things if I find a great deal. I never pay full price for anything and always buy things on sale. By cleaning out the drawers and closet I find all sorts of great things I already had and overlooked so I really don’t need anything. And the old pieces I choose to part ways with find new homes with people who’ll hopefully love them and wear them.

Ron and I really cleaned up at Target today (mostly me since all this is mine). I purchased our Easter Egg dying kit for next year, three boxes of candy, a pez dispenser and a big bag of Laffy Taffy for $3.30. Yes, that is after tax. Everything was 70% off. And they were handing out free samples of Glad trash bags. Best Target trip ever!

I love my new sign in the kitchen. I’ve been looking for something to go in the space above the stove for a while because it’s a pretty small space and this fits perfectly. Since it has pumpkins I’ll probably change it on according to season but hopefully I can find something similar. I picked this up last week at either Joanns or Michaels, I don’t remember which, and it was 60 percent off. Score!
