Things I’m obsessed with: Zulily

20140310_185025My friends, a monster has been created. I have become full-on addicted to Zulily. I can’t remember who told me about it or if I saw a commercial, but I love it. I’m a coupon, sale-seeking, won’t buy it if it’s not on sale diva and Zulily fits right in with that. If you’re not familiar with it, Zulily is basically a flash sale site. They advertise sales from various merchants usually starting at 6 a.m. pdt (9 a.m. for us East Coasters) lasting about three days. Once the sale ends, they place a bulk order for all the items sold and then ship you your stuff. The great thing is it’s usually at least 40 percent off, if not more. The not so great thing is it takes a little while to receive your order. Because of their process, you can wait, on average, 3-4 weeks to get your stuff. It varies for each sale, but trust me, these deals are worth the wait.

20140310_185443Last month, they had a TOMS sale. TOMS, in case you aren’t familiar with them, are these fun canvas shoes with hundreds of colors and designs. For every pair purchased, a pair is donated to a child in need. They can be really hard to find on sale, so imagine my delight when I found out they were going to be on Zulily and at a great price! I set my alarm clock (homegirl likes to sleep, plus I had a late meeting for work) and when I logged in at 9:10 a.m., 10 minutes after the start of the sale, some were already sold out. EEK! No worries, I nailed down three pairs. My goal was to get them all in, see which I liked the most in person, and then sell the others. (Another point: there are no returns, but if you know your way around Ebay that isn’t an issue!)

20140310_224115Well, my three fabulous pairs of TOMS arrived at my home Monday, 14 business days after I placed my order, and let’s just say I don’t think I’ll be utilizing the Ebay option. My husband, on the other hand, is less than thrilled. However, I just point out two things: 1) I got three pairs of TOMS for what I would have paid for a pair and a half. 2) My indecisive purchase just gave three pairs of shoes to children in need. How can he argue with that? Plus, I’ll be closet purging via Ebay within the next few weeks to both clean out my closet (cue the Eminem) and pay back my shoe purchase. And also, I probably need a little more space for that super cute shirt that should arrive via Zulily any day now.

If you’re hunting for a good find, please sign up for Zulily. Some of the current sales include Athleta and Vera Bradley.

I was not compensated in any way from Zulily for this post. Seriously though, if you know how to make that happen, let’s talk mmk? Also, if you would be so kind as to sign up through one of my links in this post and make a purchase, I’ll get $15 credit, so thanks. And be sure to share your link once you sign up!

My Ebates check came in the mail. This is the third check I’ve gotten, plus Ron has received one a few weeks ago. It’s the easiest money I’ve ever made. Basically, you sign up for Ebates and then go through their site to get to online merchants that you were already planning to shop at (think Target, Walmart, Victoria’s Secret, Amazon, Ebay, etc.). By going through the Ebates site, you receive a certain percentage of cash back on your purchase made at the retailer. The amounts vary by store. So let’s say I was planning on buying something from Victoria’s Secret. I go through Ebates first and get 2% (for example) cash back on my purchase. The cash back is then collected in my account and mailed out at the end of each quarter. It’s free money for doing what you were already going to do anyway. I love it, especially when I can combine an already great deal with cash back. On both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Ebates will offer double cash back at more than 500 online stores. So whatever the usual percentage is will be doubled on those two days. It’s worth checking out. Check it out here and maybe you’ll get your first “big fat check” soon.

Okay so this deal I found today is too good not to share. Being a deal seeker and pretty thrifty, I’m signed up for all sorts of deal sites including Grouping, Living Social, JDeal (which is apparently for Jewish people) and Plum Deals. They send me daily emails with their deals. Today, Groupon sent one for movie tickets. Awesome deal! It’s $13 for two tickets or $26 for four. They never expire and don’t have to be used at the same time. The tickets are good nationwide at Regal Cinemas, United Artist Theatres and Edwards Theatres. Plus, if you purchase them using the Groupon link through Ebates you can get 3% cash back plus a $5 bonus if it’s your first ebates purchase. If you’re not familiar with ebates, its awesome. You use their links to click through to gazillions of online stores and get a certain percentage cash back on your purchase. They either send you a check or deposit into your PayPal the amount you earn each quarter. Plus you can get bonuses for referring people. Check it out and don’t miss out on the movie deal.  Movie ticket prices are insane. The Groupon deal will be on sale for 7 more days.

I had the house to myself tonight so I decided to get some Pinterest organization projects done. I made a “kitchen command center” which is basically an organizer for all the stuff that finds its way to the kitchen table. I couldn’t find the file box that I wanted so I made one out of a priority mail box. Inside are folders to seperate out bills, coupons, etc. On the front is a calendar to keep track of appointments, birthdays, due dates, etc. I absolutely love calendars and have multiple ones that I use daily. I also keep a planner in my purse that I use religiously. In addition to the command center, I also organized my makeup brushes and other pieces into these super cute little boxes I found for $0.99 each at Joanns. In addition, I made a reusable grocery checklist and stuck it to the fridge. It uses white board markers so I can wipe it off and reuse it week to week. Earlier today when I was shopping for my project supplies, I nabbed some awesome deals at Target. I had coupons for certain brands of apparel and was able to match those up with clearance finds. Target has tons of clearance clothes and shoes right now. I guess they are trying to make room for fall stuff so now is a great time to go if you’re looking for deals. Overall today was a pretty successful day and that was after working all day. To finish it off, I just finished watching a completely ridiculous “scary” movie with Buddy and now it’s off to bed in my nice clean sheets, which I washed today. Yay!

I scored a great deal on sunscreen today. Target has Banana Boat and Coppertone on sale for about $7 each. Plus, when you buy two, you get a $5 giftcard. I had some stackable coupons that were just waiting for something like this. With the four sunscreens, it was approximately $27. Then I had four $1 off Target coupons, which brought it down to $23. Plus, I had four $1 off manufacturer coupons, bringing it down to $19. Plus, I received two $5 gift cards (one of which wouldn’t ring up right so I actually got two $3 error vouchers, so basically a $6 gift card instead of the $5 one). That brings it down to about $8. With all the exact amounts (and not the estimates used here because my reciept is in the other room) I got each bottle for $1.86. Amazing!

Last week I found an awesome deal online for e.l.f. makeup. If you haven’t heard of e.l.f. this stuff is amazing. It’s super awesome cost-wise and the products are great. They’re frequently featured in some of the top magazines. I got all of this for $36, including shipping. That’s less than $2 an item. Unfortunately, the deal I used has ended, but if you check their website you can usually find a great deal.

The freebies keep on coming. Today, I won a free artisan pizza from Dominos. They’re giving them away on their Facebook page all week. The time isn’t pre-announced. I think today it was around 2:30 pm. Keep checking their page and when the contest goes live, try to get one. You can either order the pizza right then or have them send you the deal via email which is what I did. Using the deal, Ron and I ordered the Chicken and Bacon Alfredo pizza. It was pretty good and, best of all, it was free!

I read about this deal on a blog and had to try it. To make this work you’ll need three of the $1 off one cover girl product coupons from the P&G insert in the April 4 newspaper. You’ll also need the free $5 Target gift card when you buy three Cover Girl products coupon from the Red Plum insert in the same paper. Through tomorrow (April 7), Cover Girl eyeshadow is on sale at Target. Head there and pick out three Cover Girl eyeshadows. Then, at checkout, present all four coupons. My eyeshadows were on sale for $2.98 each, a decent amount of the usual $3 and something price. Then, the three $1 off coupons will bring each one down to $1.98. When you factor in the $5 gift card, good to use on a future purchase, you end up getting each eyeshadow for about $0.33. Nice!

It’s finally here! I’ve been wanting this software for a few years, but it’s always been too expensive. However, a few weeks ago it popped up as Amazon’s gold box deal of the day and I jumped on it. I was able to get both Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements for less than half of what I would have paid for just one of them. I’m super excited, both to have the software and to have gotten it at such a discounted price. I’m definitely blessed to have found that deal.
