Virginia Tech just can’t catch a break. My thoughts go out to all those involved. Unfortunately now the wolves will descend on that campus, looking for any little story that they can sensationalize for their own benefit instead of reporting just the facts. I would remind my fellow media members that these are just kids who are supposed to be having the times of their lives. They aren’t fodder for your headlines. Report the facts and stick to them. Eyewitness reports are alright, but I’m sick of seeing the word “massacre.” Also, prospective students and their families should remember that one person’s actions are not indicative of an entire student body. Don’t say things like “my child will never go to Tech,” because this can happen anywhere and likely does. It doesn’t garner the media coverage that Tech does. Bless you Hokies. Stay strong.
