Target is already putting out their stock up items. I love this time of year because it’s all about getting organized and stocking up on things for the year. Yeah I know I’m a nerd.

I finally took my new vacuum out of the box. I got it for Christmas from my parents and I’m pretty excited about it. It works great and even though I woke up sick today I was able to get most of my cleaning done. I still have some more to do tomorrow, but not too much left.

Today I went with my mom and my nephew to view the local gingerbread contest entries. They had pieces by people of all ages, but this was one of my favorites. It was in the 18 and over category and is kind of simple, but creative at the same time. Another woman there who was a tourist I guess since she came for the history about George Washington and not the gingerbread, didn’t like it. She told the woman she was with that she wasn’t interested in things made by adults. She also said the town was a dump so she was just a ray of sunshine. But I appreciate anyone who has the time and talent to enter the contest regardless of their age. I didn’t see her trying to do any better.

Ron and I haven’t put away anything from Christmas yet. To be honest, we just haven’t had the time. Christmas Day was super busy, along with the day after and then today we both had to work. However, my seven day weekend officially began tonight at 6 p.m. so I’ll have plenty of time to catch up on everything. I want to try out my new vacuum, clean, put away Christmas gifts, get everything organized and digitize some old pictures. I’m excited to get everything done. I always like the time after Christmas and into January because it’s a time for getting organized and making a clean slate for the new year. Plus all the good stuff goes on sale like healthy food. I can’t wait.

Ron and I made our annual gingerbread house today. We’ve made one every year for at least five years and they always look different. Our niece helped with this one and I think it turned out cute. It’s not a Top Chef Food Network masterpiece mansion, but it’s pretty cool.

Ron and I had a great Christmas today. Last night my parents had their annual Christmas Eve party and then this morning, we spent time with my family, then went to church, spent time with Ron’s family, did our own thing and then spent time with Ron’s extended family. All of that makes for a nice, but long day. We got lots of nice presents, including a vacuum from my parents that I’m super excited about and can’t wait to use. And more important than the presents, we spent time with lots of family. I hope everyone had a nice safe, happy holiday and I hope everyone has a nice, safe happy 2012. We only have a few more days to go! And no, before anyone asks, we did not receive a child in a box.

Christmas is almost here. Only a few more days to go! I’m actually kind of sad about it. I feel like my tree hasn’t been up long enough even though it went up during the last weekend in November. Maybe I’ll have to leave it up a little too long.
